Matt Lauer would like to implore you to stop browbeating and harassing him next time you see him walking past you on the street.
Seems the furore over the firing of Ann Curry has yet to dissipate as it is now being revealed that Matt Lauer, co anchor at NBC’s ‘The Today’ show has been getting verbally harassed on the streets of Manhattan by passerbys who blame him for Ann Curry’s demise.
And how does this all make Matt feel?
Matt is miserable and reckons all you wenches are being unfair and very mean to him and would like you all to stop. He’d also like to say it’s not his fault that Ann got fired (even if we all know that he set the motions for her ouster in play back in February of this year when one of his stipulations of signing on for another contract involved getting rid of Ann) and he’s just about had enough.
Tells one network source to tmz: ‘It’s driving him crazy. He’s so unhappy.’
Kids can you see the tears running down Ann’s face? I’m sure Ann must be worried for Matt.
And what about rumors that Matt is on the way out? No such luck as his $25 million a year contract has him locked in for a while and it seems for now NBC are committed to Matt whether they like it or not. Of course they might be silently wondering to themselves that the drumbeat of continued disgust towards Matt whether justified or not is hardly the right look for their smiley happy tv show.
Let’s hope Matt can maintain his perfect chamomile tea composure as the new year rolls in whilst you continue screaming at him on the streets for being the backstabber that you reckon he is.
Sip gently Matt, it’s going to be a very cold winter…
