Sara Nicole Resko a Florida mother is charged with child neglect after leaving six children unattended with open sores at an Ocala home in deplorable condition.
A Florida mother was on Wednesday arrested after allegedly leaving her six children infested with lice and open sores, unattended at a ‘filthy’ home and reports of two of her young children ‘wandering in the road.’
In a statement posted on Facebook the Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced Sara Nicole Resko of Ocala, being charged with six counts of child neglect and leaving them to live in ‘deplorable’ conditions while the ‘insurance agent’ went to work.
The statement added the mother’s arrest followed deputies responding to a call Tuesday about two young kids ‘wandering in the road’ in the Porter Shores neighborhood.
A 2-year-old girl who was not fully clothed, and a 4-year-old boy were found to be ‘infested with lice and covered with open sores,’ the sheriff’s office said.

As deputies sought to determine where the children had come from, police told of four other kids, who were later found to be the older siblings, riding by on their bikes. The sheriff’s department said the kids – who were 6, 8, 9 and 13 years old – told them that Resko left them by themselves while she was working.
Of note, the dailymail reported authorities saying not all of the children were believed to be hers.
A regard of the home revealed the residence lacking food, running water and electricity, with the children made to sleep on bare mattresses on the floor. They said the home was also overrun with flies and littered with dog feces.
The sheriff’s department said that ‘all of the children were infested with lice and covered with open sores.’
Sara Resko returned home to find the deputies there while claiming to have only been out ‘for a few minute’. The mother soon adjusted her story after learning deputies had already been at the family home for more than an hour.
‘Are you f****** kidding me!’ Resko responded before declaring the arrest ‘so f****** stupid’.
The sheriff’s department said they discovered two prior incidents in April 2017 and February 2018 in which Resko’s kids were ‘left unsupervised.’ On the second occasion, officials with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) ‘implemented a supervision plan with Resko.’
During February’s incident, Resko was instructed not to let the eldest child babysit anymore reported WESH.
‘Deputies ultimately determined that Resko failed on multiple occasions to provide care and supervision for these children,’ the sheriff’s department said on Wednesday, adding that the six kids were placed in DCF custody.
Not immediately clear was where the children’s father(s) were and how the presumably single mother managed (if at all) to take care of the six young children and what aid (if any) was rendered to the mother…and why ultimately she left the children in abject disregard?
