Looks like things could be getting dicey over at NBC as Ann Curry pulled a surprise move this morning by turning up to work when it was widely expected by insiders that she’d rather save face than attempt to come to work after a disparaging nytimes article was released (did NBC help in the timing of that article?) yesterday evening heralding the network’s ambition to replace the Today show co anchor.
Defiant and calm pressed Ms Curry turned up to work as the Today’s co host, as she has done for the last year, probably to the great surprise and consternation of NBC insiders and co host Matt Lauer who recently made it clear he would not sign on to the show (for another $30 million a year thank you very much as compared to his co host’s $2 million annual salary)if his co host remained. Nevertheless there she was prim and proper, mildly perturbed but nonchalant nonetheless ironically proving why she’s a seasoned media junkie.
The show of course went on as if nothing had been spilled on the floor which must have been quite painful and ridiculous for the Today team as well as viewers as finally the cat has been released out of the proverbial bag.
At present NBC producers are left wondering what to do with Ms Curry who it seems has decided to put up a defiant front despite been the subject of much rumors that the show’s ratings have taken a tumble due to her lack of slow wit and bad tea cup manners. Something that one wonders NBC must have noticed before inviting her to be co host as she has been with the network since 1990 and joined the Today show in 1997 as a news anchor.
It will of course be interesting to see if Ms Curry comes in to work tomorrow and what steps NBC will now take as they have clearly have begun to fill the sting of mud all over their faces.
Isn’t it wonderful to tune into a morning show not because of the news and the fluff it delivers but because of the venom and bad blood it tries so very hard to hide…?

I think that it is sad that in this day and age that someone can have the power to say I will not return if this person still works here. Ann Currey has added class, and style and grace to this position. I think that America still has not evolved enough. Ann Currey hold your head up high and continue to be the professional you are.

Ann reach for the stars! Anyone even half informed could see how uncomfortable Matt made you feel. You should be relieved that your days of sitting on that couch with him are numbered. Savanah is phony phony phony and both she and Natalie are inexperienced! GMA here I come. I left when Diane Sawyer went to the evening news but I’m coming back….love Robin Roberts!

Al Roker, Willard Scott, and Ann Curry are the only reason we tuned into the Today show every morning. If Ann Leaves the show we will be switching channels. Cannot stand Matt or Savanah both come across as arrogant.
