In your second paragraph you say that the morass has sunk to a new low. A morass simply exists. Things may sink lower into it. Further, when you attempted to avoid ending that same sentence with a preposition by stating “with whom the actress has taken up residence” you went ahead and added a redundant ‘with’ at the end of the sentence.
