Prince autopsy: Will a scheduled postmortem exam reveal how Prince died? Speculation now rampant that death is linked to drug opiate overdose.

A postmortem examination is to take place on Friday to determine the exact cause of death of music idol, Prince.

The autopsy comes after the singer collapsed in a lift at his Paisley Park estate Thursday morning, with emergency crew unable to revive the popular entertainer who was officially declared dead at 10.07 am.

While no official cause of death has been given, speculation is rampant that Prince may have died the result of ill effects of opiate or painkiller drug overdose.

Previously the singer’s reps had told six days of the singer getting violently ill while traveling on a private plane en route to a concert performance having to make an emergency landing.

The reason offered to the public was complications with a flu. Yet a report via tmz released Thursday afternoon said the singer was subjected to a ‘save shot,’ normally administered to those suffering life threatening complications as a result of an opiate overdose.

The common medication used in such instances is called naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan.

According to Drugs.com naloxone works to block or reverses the effects of opioid medication, including extreme drowsiness, slowed breathing, or loss of consciousness.

A tweet via the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, Minnesota Thursday afternoon told of receiving Prince’s body with an autopsy along with a toxicology scheduled for Friday.

Typically toxicology results take a few weeks of testing before the results can be determined. A situation that will presumably lead to much ongoing speculation until said results are publicly released.
