Jessica Storer sentenced: A substitute teacher is sentenced to two years jail after having sex with a student after her husband plied the teen with alcohol.
Jessica Storer a 29 year old former Ohio substitute teacher was sentenced to prison on Monday after admitting to having sex with a teen student who her husband plied with alcohol.
During trial proceedings, the mother of two conceded having sex with an 18 year old student inside of the Pandora home she shared with her husband, Derrick, 33, after they invited a group of students to their home November, 25, 2016.
Of disconcert, a letter read in court written by the victim revealed that since the incident, the student having attempted suicide and being mercilessly harassed at Pandora Gilboa High School along with being bullied online.
Noted the victim, ‘I should have been able to trust her,’
Adding, ‘I’m trying to get my life together.’
‘Jessica Storer has really made the last six months a living hell for me. I hated it and I hated myself for doing it.’
Added the victim’s father in court, ‘He is trying to make his way out of this. Our son is going to have to live with this for the rest of his life.’
The victim’s statement said Storer manipulated him when he spoke to her about a bad breakup he was going through.
Storer’s arrest came after the substitute teacher through the Putnam County Educational Service Center, was interviewed by police on December 13 after police received a tip the day before.
Investigators contacted the 18-year-old teen who said he was given alcohol before having sex with Storer and sleeping over.
When Storer was questioned, she admitted to having sex with the teen and was arrested on December 21 following an investigation by the Pandora Police Department.
During her sentencing, Storer claimed that the teen helped himself to the alcohol inside her home.
Told the woman addressing Judge Basinger, ‘Alcohol was at my home. I did not force him to drink it. I allowed him’.
Reiterated Storer: ‘The sexual relationship between the 18-year-old and I was a one-time thing,’
‘I accept full responsibility for him drinking and for not saying no.
‘I do feel it was consensual. It was not forced. That’s where I came in saying this should be between my husband and I, my priest and God.’
The judge told Storer she was the adult, despite the teen being an adult by age.
Before sentencing, the former substitute teacher asked Judge Basinger to consider her mental health claiming that she was taking medication for bipolar disorder and depression.
In addition to the two year prison sentence, Storer has to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
Not necessarily understood is what led to the teacher adopting the attitude she was within her grounds to usurp her position of authority and power over the vulnerable student while maintaining that the resulting behavior between the pair was mutually consensual.
A state of mind that many commentators would have seen the teacher receive a more onerous jail sentence had the genders been reversed.
Storer’s husband pleaded guilty to multiple counts of first-degree misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to a minor in April.
Come Tuesday the 33-year-old father-of-two was sentenced to three months in jail Tuesday. The husband was also fined $500 and placed on two years probation.
