In what is thought to have shaped her decision to home school her son, Nancy Lanza is said to have had various confrontations with school teachers at Adam Lanza‘s former school, Newtown High School.
Her gripe? Nancy Lanza had plead on numerous occasions for better services for her disturbed son Adam but was consistently rebuffed.
It is believed Nancy Lanza felt that the school could not meet her son’s needs despite him being known to be a bright student given that he suffered from Asperger’s which made him isolated and socially awkward.
Argues the UK’s dailymail: The claim raises questions over the role of the Newtown Board of Education, which would have been responsible for helping the family to educate Adam, 20.
Earlier reports suggests that as far back as 2007 he was being monitored when he enrolled at Newtown High School – but the risks do not appear to have been picked up.
The following year, when Adam was just 16, his mother appears to have pulled him out and he began taking part-time college courses.
What one does wonder is if Nancy Lanza was so cognizant that her son did in fact need special attention as well have special needs why she in fact did not seek to address those concerns with a facility that specialized in such matters or at least a social worker rather than sequestrating him home and attempting to home school him given her son’s overwhelming needs, even then?
Also on Nancy Lanza’s mind was the perceived stigma of seeking mental redress which in the end preempted her from seeking out the proper channels to help her son?
