James Holmes attorney, Lisa Damiani has today come out to say that James Holmes family are supporting their son. Asked about the family’s where abouts though, she declined to comment.

Adding to the mystery of James Holmes’ family position on their son, Lisa Damiani read a statement from James Holmes mother, Arlene Holmes clarifying that she had been unaware of the shooting when ABC first contacted her. That besides her initially stating that she wasn’t surprised that her son was involved in the murder spree, hinting that the Holmes family had first hand knowledge of the young man’s internal disarray. To what extent though is still debatable.

denverpost: During the brief press conference, Damiani deflected a volley of questions, including some about the relationships between family members still living in California, and whether James is estranged from his family.

“The family would like privacy,” she said. “The family wants to reiterate that their hearts go out to the victims and their families.”

Damiani said that Robert and Arlene Holmes and their daughter have had tremendous support from the pastor of their church.

As an eventual trial is to take place it is more than likely how much knowledge that Arlene Holmes actually had about her son will come to the fore, or if it was all an actual misunderstanding as James Holmes’ lawyer insists when the ABC reporter first called.

One can be sure that the back and forth posturing of what was actually said, known, intended or understood will go back and forth but one thing is for sure: A mother will always find love for a mass shooter even if society can not or will not….
