Questions are abound this morning as to the actual identity of the shooter and what sparked him entering the Aurora, Colorado movie complex that led to a blood bath.
To date this is what is known about James Holmes:
He is a 24 year old man until recently studying at the University of Colorado School of Medicine before having dropped out last month. It is understood he was studying towards his Phd in neurosciences.
Although the young man’s motives at present are unclear authorities have for the time being come to the conclusion that the shooting was intricately planned including highly sophisticated explosives at his booby trapped apartment which leads others to wonder had he planned to bring authorities there for a final bloodbath?
Taking a hook and fire truck ladder FBI agents this morning used a camera to film the inside contents of the assailants apartment which at present is doused with a highly flammable explosive material.
Meanwhile James Holmes’ Californian based family have confirmed that their son is the suspect in custody and that at present they wish the media to respect their privacy. It is also understood that they have issued a statement that they intend to cooperate with authorities and their hearts go out to those victims. At present authorities do not suspect any of the family members of being involved in the actions of James Holmes.
What though is interesting is the finesse arrangement of explosives and handling of firearms. It is understood that James Holmes never attended the army or any other militiant body. Which given the level of skill involved in the shooting brings into question where did the young man attain his knowledge, why he had chosen the movie premiere for his plan and how long had he been planning this event and most importantly why?
Holmes’ only past brush with police was a traffic ticket in 2011. The car he was driving to the theater had Tennessee plates.
Finally what perhaps may strike many as beyond hysterical and perverse is in a recent rental application Holmes described himself as ‘quiet’ and ‘easy-going.’
