Isaac Arndt, Fargo, North Dakota man fatally stabs 14 year old ex girlfriend Jaelyn Walker, thirteen times, with missing teen’s body found by Red River in Moorhead, Minnesota. The pair had recently ended a relationship.
A North Dakota man has reportedly admitted to stabbing a missing 14 year old girl no less than 13 times along a river in Minnesota late Monday evening.
Isaac Arthur Arndt, 18, was identified as the primary suspect in the stabbing murder of missing Moorhead teen, Jaelyn Nichole Walker after her remains were found along Red River, hours after she was reported missing by her mother. A knife was found at the scene.
A medical examination report determined Walker dying as a consequence of substantial sharp force injuries to her back, torso and neck, the result of a homicide. A Facebook release from the Moorhead Police Department told of investigators connecting Isaac Arndt to the murder scene, charging the man with felony homicide.
Inconsistent story
Police located two separate drivers who drove Arndt to different locations on the night of Monday, August 19th. The first ride was to Fargo, North Dakota, where Arndt is from. The second ride was to the Moorhead Police Department where the teen had gone Monday night, 11pm, alleging he and Walker had been attacked by an ‘unknown man’.
Arndt then told police that Walker ‘ran away,’ while the unknown man cut Arndt with a knife. The officer took pictures of Arndt’s hand that had two cuts to his fingers. Arndt went to a local hospital for his injuries.
Around 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20th, Walker’s mother filed a missing person report with the Moorhead Police Department.
It wasn’t until later that Tuesday morning, that Walker’s body was discovered along Red River, ValleyNewsLive reported.
Police later followed up with Arndt at a local hospital. The arrest warrant stated that Arndt re-told detectives his initial story, but that his story started to be detailed with a number of different versions of what happened.
Pair had been in relationship before recent break-up
A report via KSTP cited police saying Arndt eventually admitting he and Walker had been in an intimate relationship for several months and that it had recently ended.
He told police Walker wanted to know who his new girlfriend was but he refused to tell her.
Arndt then claimed that Walker started to hit and kick him, leading to him stabbing her about 13 times. He said he then left the scene on his scooter and discarded his phone and backpack before abandoning the scooter.
Court documents state that Arndt’s backpack and scooter were found in the places he described, but the man’s Samsung Galaxy phone wasn’t found. Arndt’s wallet was also found near the scene.
Arndt said he then went to his apartment in Fargo, where he cleaned up and washed his clothes, which were covered in blood. During a search warrant execution of his apartment, officers found socks, a towel and a lot of toilet paper with red stains, according to court documents.
Surveillance video showed Arndt walking away from the path where Walker’s body was found. The video also showed Arndt discarding items near where Walker’s phone was found.
‘She was there lying suffering…’
Officers found messages between Arndt and Walker agreeing to meet at Gooseberry Park. A witness also reported seeing them on a scooter at the park.
In another interview with police, Arndt admitted that Walker was not alive when he left the scene.
Arndt told police that he stabbed Walker several times and noted she was lying there suffering. According to court documents, he said he then cut her throat, hugged her, and then stabbed her once more in the back.
He then told police he dragged her body to the river and fled the scene. Arndt was arrested that Tuesday.
Authorities took Arndt into custody in Fargo, North Dakota, where he remains held in the Cass County Detention Center. He will be extradited back to Clay County, Minnesota, and the Clay County District Attorney’s Office will file felony homicide charges.
