Gary Zerola a former Boston, Massachusetts lawyer/prosecutor who was once named as one of the most eligible bachelors has been charged with rape- the fourth time this decade.
Turning himself in to authorities Wednesday the 45 year old most eligible bachelor was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in a Boston condo earlier this month. His bail was set at $10,000 and he was ordered to wear a GPS tracker, stick to a 9 p.m. curfew and abstain from drinking, the Boston Herald reported.
The charges against Zerola ironically come after the former Suffolk County district attorney was named Boston’s most eligible bachelor in 2001 by People and having appeared in the magazine among other top singles throughout the U.S.
Of note Gary Zerola was later a finalist for ABC’s first season of ‘The Bachelor.’
Zerola, who left the prosecutor’s office to work as a defense attorney reports the nydailynews has faced rape accusations three times before in the past 10 years.
In 2006, the ‘hunk lawyer’ was accused of raping two women inside his Boston apartment, but was later found not guilty on both accounts.
A year later, Zerola was accused of raping a woman while he visited Miami. Those charges were dropped, but less than a week later, he was charged for allegedly urinating in public, slapping a cop and trying to run away from the officer.
A jury cleared him of the assault charges on the cop.
In the most recent rape allegation, Zerola is accused of sexually assaulting a woman he knew after he brought her and her friend back to a Beacon Hill condominium. Prosecutors claimed the 45-year-old raped the unidentified victim as her friend slept nearby.
He faces two counts of rape for the Nov. 10 attack.
Responding to the allegations against him, Zerola’s attorney said they were false, questioning how the woman’s friend could sleep through the alleged sexual assault.
Told defense attorney Joseph Krowski Jr.via WCVB: ‘Mr. Zerola is nothing more than a target in this case,’
‘This is a case based on a foundation of lies and we vigorously look forward to our day in court.’
The next scheduled hearing in this case is January 4.
