The Katya Leonovich Spring 2013 collection is like a breath of fresh air. Models walked the runway with hair tied back and minimal makeup, eyes bright and cheeks pink, garments flowing behind them. The sense of movement created by soft fabrics such as charmeuse, chiffon and taffeta, paired with techniques such as pleats, pelisse and crinkles, made the models appear as they were walking on air.
The show opened with a palette of grey hues, transitioning into cool green, blue, pink and purple, reminiscent of a sunset reflected in the sea. Just as her Spring 2012 collection, leather appeared in sleek, cutout lines as painted corsets, this time with softer angles.
Standout pieces included a loose-fitting crinkled chiffon gown with capped butterfly sleeves in a cool, grey tone with pops of white and a dappled green-and-blue silk gown with creative diagonal cross-chest cuts.
