The gunman believed to have been behind the attempted assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump Saturday was shot and killed by Secret Service.
The shooter, identified as 20 year old Bethel Park, Pennsylvania man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was in a sniper position on a manufacturing plant rooftop building located 130 yards away from Trump’s podium in Butler, Pennsylvania as he spoke to a campaign crowd, sources told the nypost.

Attendees desperately tried warning secret service of man crawling rooftop with rifle
Video circulated on social media showing Crooks laying deceased on a rooftop building hundreds of yards away from the rally where Trump had convened with his supporters in Butler, PA, Saturday afternoon.
Next to the sniper’s body, An AR-style rifle was recovered. Crooks was taken down by Secret Service snipers.
According to social media, ‘some people reported that a man was seen crawling on the roof of a nearby building. But, Police, Secret Service ignored.’
The shooting left supporters screaming and shocked as back to back gunshots suddenly went off. It’s at this moment secret service agents lept into action jumping over the president in a bid to shield him.
Footage shows Trump turning away while his ear is bleeding, with smears of blood strewn across his face.
The former president pumped a fist at the crowd to show he was not severely injured, as Secret Service agents raced to get him off the stage.

No known motive
Early reports indicate that around eight to 10 shots were fired, and the press pool said ‘residual bangs’ were heard after Trump hit the floor.
Along with the gunman, a bystander at the rally was shot dead along with a female attendee at the rally wounded, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told the Washington Post.
A witness speaking to CNN, described seeing a man in the bleachers near him hit in the head by gunfire, and another woman nearby being hit in the arm. He said it was hard to figure out which direction the gunfire was coming from, and he added that police moved quickly to clear the bleachers.
Why Crooks fired on the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is unclear. To date no known motive for the attempted assassination attempt was known.
Bethel Park where the suspect hailed from is a village 40 miles south of where the Butler rally was held.
