The father of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks has declined comment on his son’s alleged attempted assassination on former President Donald Trump save to say he was ‘trying to figure out what the hell is going on.’
Matthew Crooks wouldn’t provide details about his son and wanted to ‘wait until I talk to law enforcement,’ before speaking out on Saturday afternoon’s shooting the dad told CNN.

Sniper suspect parents id as registered Democrats
Crooks’ bullet grazed the 45th president’s right ear as he killed a male spectator and critically injured two others.
Crooks had set himself up on the roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage.
The counter-sniper team returned fire from the roof of another building close to where Trump was located — behind the audience stands, killing Crosby.
The would-be assassin was a registered Republican but donated $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project in 2021, a Democratic-aligned political action committee. Attempts to find out what motivated the 20 year old sniper were not immediately clear the FBI stated.

The report described the father as working as a psychologist and having authored many academic books. The sniper suspect’s mother was described as a homemaker who had previously taught at primary school.
It is also alleged that Thomas Crooks and his parents living separately for two years following the 20 year old having a ‘big fight’ with his father before moving out at the age of 18.
Thomas had previously stayed with his grandparents only to move out after getting reprimanded for taking drugs.
Of note, the suspect would be assassin wore a T-shirt that promoted gun YouTube channel, Demolition Ranch as circulated images on social media show Crooks wearing the clothing celebrating gun culture.
Crooks according to U.S. law enforcement officials used a used a semi-automatic rifle, with an AR-15 style rifle found near his body on the roof of a manufacturing plant which he had sought to fatally shoot Trump who spoke to his followers 130 yards away.
Records indicate Crooks lived in the town of Bethel Park, Pa. approximately 45 miles south of Butler Farm Show grounds where the shooting took place.
