The mother of the Nashville school shooting suspect who killed three children and three adult staffers – is an active gun control activist who once urged friends on Facebook to sign a petition calling to keep firearms out of schools.

‘So important!’ Norma Hale, 62, wrote in a March 8, 2018 Facebook post (her social media account has since been removed) as she shared the petition that stated ‘Keep Guns Out of School’ that appeared to be from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.

Likewise, the webpage’s domain to the petition did not appear to exist anymore. The Sandy Hook shooting which occurred at an elementary school in 2012 at the hands of a 20 year old loner led to the shooting deaths of 26, twenty of whom were children between the ages of six and seven.

In the immediate aftermath of reports naming, transgender, Audrey Hale, 28, as the individual responsible for gunning down six at Nashville’s Covenant school, Nora Hale expressed sorrow and disbelief.

‘It’s very, very difficult right now. I think I lost my daughter today,’ Norma Hale told ABC News

The mother went on to request privacy as her family struggled to cope with the magnitude of her late daughter’s actions.

Audrey Hale was born female, and is believed to have been living as a man called Aiden.

Audrey who identified as he and him left a detailed manifesto and plan for the shooting at her Nashville home, and another in her car. While police have yet to disclose its contents or a motive, Nashville Metro PD Chief John Drake told NBC News he believed ‘resentment’ lay at the core of her behavior.

The daughter is thought to have resented her deeply religious parents having sent her to the private Christian school which generally refuses to accept gay themes and non traditional gender identity.

Reports told of Audrey Hale carrying at least two assault rifles and a handgun as she gunned down her victims before responding police killed her.

Audrey’s actions were at odds with her own mother’s ongoing social media posts  decrying school shootings and calling for increased gun control.

In one post from Feb. 21, 2018, under the name, Norma Fort Hale shared another petition from Sandy Hook Promise urging lawmakers to ‘Make Large-Capacity Gun Magazines Illegal.’

‘So proud of Audrey!’

In various other Facebook posts dating back several years, Norma Hale, who worked as a coordinator at Nashville-based church, The Village Chapel, gushed over her two children for various achievements and milestones.

In Jan. 28, 2019 post, Norma wrote ‘found this in a devotional book I loaned to Audrey’ with a heart emoji at the end of the sentence and a photo that shows ‘I (love) God’ written on the page.

The mother also commended her daughter in a March 15, 2017 Facebook post for impressing one of her college professors at Nossi College of Art and noted the instructor recommended her for an awards competition.

‘So proud of Audrey!’ the doting mother wrote.

She also stated in an Aug. 2015 post that Audrey “wrote ‘thank you’ notes to all her professors at the end of her summer semester” including to one teacher who lost her son in a car accident a year prior.

‘These were some of her words … ‘Don’t ever let anything or anyone steal your joy. You have a reason and a purpose to be here.’ Hale wrote, adding, ‘Amazing, Dre. I love you.’

In other posts, Norma gave numerous shout outs to both her son and daughter, Scott and Audrey and wasn’t shy about how lucky she was to be the mother of her two kids.

In an Oct. 6, 2017 post, the mom wrote ‘Just grateful to be the Mom of these 2 awesome kids!” with photos of Audrey and her brother growing up through the years.

‘Mother’s Day 2014,‘ she posted in May 2014 with a photo of her and her two children. ‘I get to be these awesome kids’ Mom!’
