Evelyn Dieckhaus Nashville schoolgirl died a hero trying to pull fire alarm to stop transgender shooter, Audrey Hale as she burst into private Christian school. 

A Nashville schoolgirl, one of three 9 year old children killed at the hands of transgender shooter, Audrey Hale has been hailed a hero after it was revealed she was shot and killed while trying to pull the fire alarm to stop the intruder from opening fire on her classmates.

Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, was one of the victims shot by Hale, 28, after she opened fire at the private Christian school on Monday.

Her family has described her as a ‘shining light’ and said that they are ‘completely broken’ by her death.

They added that Evelyn had been desperately trying to pull the fire alarm to get help when the shooting unfolded on Monday. 

One heartbreaking report shared that Evelyn’s older sister, Eleanor, cried ‘I don’t want to be an only child’ in the wake of the massacre.

130 mass shootings year to date

Tributes also flooded in for a second victim, Will Kinney, who was shot and killed along with Hallie Scruggs, both 9, in the massacre. 

His family called him ‘unfailingly kind’ and ‘always inclusive of others’ as well as praising him for loving his two younger sisters. 

GoFundMe set up by a family friend of the Kinney’s said: ‘Will had an unflappable spirit. He was unfailingly kind, gentle when the situation called for it, quick to laugh, and always inclusive of others. 

‘He loved his sisters, adored his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and was always excited to host friends of every age. 

‘Sweet Will knew no strangers, and our hearts our broken for his family as they try to find their way forward.’ 

Headmistress Dr Katherine Koonce, 60, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and chef Mike Hill, 61 were also killed in the mass shooting. 

Bodycam video footage captured Audrey Hale being fatally shot as responding officers took out the shooter less than 14 minutes after gunfire erupting at 10.13am at the private religious school.

There have been at least 130 mass shootings in the US since the beginning of the new year, including Monday’s rampage at The Covenant School in Nashville, according to statistics provided by the Gun Violence Archive (GVA),

The agency defines a mass shooting as an incident in which at least four people, not including the shooter, are shot. Welcome to a brave new reckless world.
