A Pennsylvania couple have died in an apparent murder-suicide after the boyfriend allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend before turning the murder weapon on himself last weekend.
Tyrelle Dwayne Manley Sr. 33, is alleged to have fired multiple shots at 34 year old woman, Leticia Velez at a Spring Grove apartment complex residence on January 31.
York County Regional Police were called to Spring Hollow Apartments in the first block of East 3rd Avenue in Spring Grove at 4:13 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, after a shooting involving two deceased individuals was reported, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
Spring Grove murder-suicide leads to couple dead
According to the DailyVoice, the shooting took place at the couple’s residence, with the gunman, Tyrelle Dwayne Manley dying from ‘multiple gunshot’ wounds. His manner of death remains under investigation.
Autopsies conducted Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital determined the causes of death, but the manner remains under investigation, authorities said.
A neighbor told Penn Live they witnessed Manley shoot Velez before turning the gun on himself. The neighbor said they heard banging around the apartment before gunshots going off. Police described the incident as isolated with no ongoing threat to the public.
Domestic violence tragedy
According to her LinkedIn profile, Velez worked as a Customer Service Representative at Waste Connections, where she had been employed full-time since August 2022. In emotional social media posts shared after Manley was identified, family members described the Manley as a devoted father and uncle who played a central role in his family’s life.
One woman wrote that Manley stepped in to help raise her son after the boy’s father — Manley’s brother — was killed, calling him ‘a damn good uncle’ who had been in her son’s life since he was 5 years old. She acknowledged his struggles with mental health but said he was ‘sweet and respectful’ and had ‘a good heart.’
York County Regional Police continue to investigate.
