Donald Trump has survived an assassination attempt on his life after being shot in the head during a Saturday afternoon rally.

Trump pumped a fist at the crowd and did not seem too severely injured as he walked on his own off the stage, surrounded by secret service. 

Noticeable was splatters of blood on the former president’s face and current Republican presidential nominee.

Suspect and motive unknown 

The shooting left supporters screaming and shocked as back to back gunshots suddenly went off.

It’s at this moment secret service agents lept into action jumping over the president in a bid to shield him.

Footage shows Trump turning away while his ear is bleeding, with smears of blood strewn across his face.

The former president pumped a fist at the crowd to show he was not severely injured, as Secret Service agents raced to get him off the stage.

Early reports indicate that around eight to 10 shots were fired, and the press pool said ‘residual bangs’ were heard after Trump hit the floor.

Former president releases statement that he is ‘fine’ 

As Trump pumped his fist to the crowd, some were heard cheering his name and chanting ‘USA’ and ‘Make America Great Again.’

‘President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,’ spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement. ‘He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.’

Officials have to date not identified the suspect seen in video (see immediately above) ‘neutralized’. Follow up reports told of the suspect confirmed being deceased.

At least one bystander was killed during the shooting at Trump’s campaign rally Saturday, officials said.

A second audience member was left in serious condition, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told the Washington Post.

No known motive for the attempted assassination was immediately known.
