Yes, you can make extra money each month by contributing to blogs or other forms of media. But this is only possible when you have made the decision to dedicate yourself to this project and set some rules around your home.

• Designate A Work Area. Set up a place for you to work on your side hustle in your home. Sitting on the couch with a laptop and glancing at the television is comfortable, but it is not always productive. Having an area set up in your house that is specifically for your side work will keep you focused on that work. Just like the distractions that you encounter at your day job, distractions happen at home. Creating an area to minimize these distraction leads to more success.

• Designate Work Time. You have specific hours that you are required to be at your day job. Set specific times that you are going to dedicate to your side job and stick to them. This can be daily, every other day, or even only on your days off. Whatever is convenient to your schedule.

• Announce Your Designated Time To Family. One of the hardest parts of working from home is the fact that everyone thinks that you can stop what you are doing at any time. You need to announce to your family and friends that for the hour or two that you have dedicated to your side job that you are unavailable. Your loved ones will learn to respect this time and allow you to focus on your side job.

• Be Prepared To Start Slow. It takes time to build a successful work from home business. Take time to research about the choices you have made for your side job and see what other people have said about their successes and failures. Knowledge is power, and the more you know about your side job, the easier it will be to become successful.

Don’t Forget To Market Yourself Offline

It is effortless to immerse yourself in the Internet when you are working from home. You are, after all, working on the Internet, so it seems logical that this is where you would advertise. Yes, you need to market your skills, products or services on the Internet and in a variety of ways to be successful. However, you also need to market your business offline as well.

Marketing your side job face-to-face is a great way to teach people about your business. Although the Internet has been around for 30 years, many people are still unfamiliar with some of the things they can find on the Internet or services that are available.

For instance, most businesses understand that they need a website to be competitive in today’s market. They do not understand, however, how to integrate their sites into social media or post articles to their sites that their potential clients would use. If you have chosen freelance writing as your side hustle, you can market your skills to local businesses to help them market their websites effectively.

By setting rules for yourself and dedicating the time necessary to be successful, you may soon find that your side hustle is turning into a very profitable business. You may also discover that you enjoy working from home so much that you will change it into a full-time position.
