What counts for savory, ethical, and acceptable? That is the question today as the media world is all up in arms over Mark Musarella’s decision to post a picture of a strangled woman he came along in the line of his duty as an emergency medical technician for the state. Granted such exhibitions of morbidity don’t inspire the giddy feeling one looks for when they turn up to the facebook page, but one does have to wonder for a moment in a culture where just about everything has become permissible where we will eventually draw the line?
So for now if you must offend and shock just stick to showing pictures of nipples, snorting and general debauchery that most of us can stomach – death it seems is something that we’re not quite ready to stomach and perhaps shouldn’t be heralding especially if it’s not your own death but someone else’s. After all once in a while it’s nice to respect the wishes of family members…assuming such things matter to you.
