Define tragedy? A 25-year-old Florida woman was killed after being struck by a car after pulling over trying to help a stranded dog along a Tampa highway.
Maryam Ibrahim of Tampa, FL had just left her own birthday dinner party, and had stopped her Kia Optima and exited the vehicle to render aid to a hurt dog she had come along on the Dale Mabry highway.
As the woman approached the dog, a 69-year-old Tampa man driving a Toyota RAV4 struck both the dog and the woman, the Florida Highway Patrol stated.

Both the woman and the dog suffered fatal injuries at the scene, WFLA reported.
According to an incident report, Ibrahim had stopped her Kia Optima around 10:25 p.m, Thursday and approached the stray pup on the six-lane highway.
It’s while tending to the canine, that Ibrahim and the hurt dog were struck and killed by an un-identified 69 year old driver according to The Tampa Bay Times.
Ibrahim, an aspiring lawyer, who originally hailed from Cairo, Egypt was identified as the victim by friends and family who called her a ‘kind soul.’
‘Maryam Ibrahim was a loved and bright member of the Minnesota community,’ stated a fundraiser set up in her honor.

‘Maryam was someone who exuded confidence in a way that was contagious and instilled courage and determination to those around her.
‘She had the most amazing smile that lit up any room she walked into.’
She was a third-year senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, according to her LinkedIn.
The young woman had hopes of attending law school and had previously interned at a law firm and Florida House Rep. Michele Rayner’s office.
‘With plans to attend law school, I am pursuing a career in either contract/business/corporate law or international law, hoping to merge the two interests.’ Ibrahim said.
It remained unclear if the 69 year old driver would face any charges.
