Winners in the category #cultural institution, Reduced Shakespeare Company (@reduced) provided a live comedy rendition of “Othello” *laughing all around.*
Suze Orman (@suzeormanshow) won the award in the category #finance and although she could not accept in person, had prepared a video spoof of her popular TV segment “Can I afford it?” The topic: a guy calls in wanting to buy twitter, estimated at 1.5 billion dollars. Denied!
In what no doubt will be referred to as the “Kanye” stunt of the evening, the fitting category of #weird brought just that. Just as Annie Scott (@anniescott) was about to accept the award on behalf of The Llama @DoWhatITellYou (a llama who lives in the computer and tells people what to do on Twitter), the most intoxicated individual I have ever witnessed rushed the stage to express his feelings for not winning and his apparent hatred of CNN.
Not entirely sure if his “performance” was part of the show, this man desperately needed attention and anyone knows that yelling into a mic (was that English?), pouring a bottle of water on your head and attempting to breakdance will do just that. He was finally escorted off stage by security and an outpour of tweets followed.
