Mueller Jackson, Brick Memorial student killed in hit & run in New Jersey while cycling to school by speeding juvenile BMW driver at crosswalk, who after getting out of car and inspecting scene fled the scene.
A juvenile boy has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run death of a 15-year-old boy in Brick, New Jersey who was struck while cycling to school, Tuesday morning.
Mueller Jackson, 15, an honors student was struck shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Lanes Mill Road and Rhode Island Avenue in Brick Township, near Brick Memorial High School. Jackson was riding in a marked crosswalk when a 2021 BMW traveling at a high rate of speed hit him, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township police. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mueller a ninth grade student attended Brick Memorial High School, just blocks from where he died, ABC7NY reported.

Investigators said the BMW driver failed to stop, render aid or call police after the collision and fled the area. A joint investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Brick Township Police Department led detectives to a juvenile suspect, who was later located and taken into custody, authorities said.
The teen driver, whose name has not been released because of his age, has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death, officials said. He is being held at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center. A video shared by local media showed the teen driver and a passenger get out of the car after the crash, inspect the damage, only to then flee the scene.

An obituary by Obrien Funeral Home stated Mueller was born at Jersey Shore Medical Center and lived his entire life in Brick.
‘Jackson was an honors student who excelled in Brick Memorial’s STEM Program and was expected to attend MATES (a specialized STEM school) in September,’ it read. ‘Jackson aspired to be an Engineer later in life and was taking the necessary steps now to enhance his future goals. He was also an Officer of NJHS and the Treasurer for Student Council during his years at VMMS. Jackson ran track at Brick Memorial High School, earned his black belt from Brick PPK and played flag football for SJNFL Flag.’
An athlete, Mueller ran track in high school, earned a black belt from Paul Prendergast Karate and also played flag football, his obituary further read.
Mueller loved playing video games with his friends, mountain biking with his dad, going on cruises, playing chess with his grandfather and was an avid reader and drawer, according to his obituary.
Wednesday night vigil for Brick Memorial honors student
A GoFundMe was set up help the family with funeral costs and a vigil will be held Wednesday night at the high school, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Mueller is survived by his parents, Daniel and Kimberly, his siblings, Olivia, 13, Cameron, 13, Grayson, 9, his grandparents, Frances, Chester and Fran and numerous other family members and friends, according to his obituary.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at O’Brien’s Funeral Home in Brick. The funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Authorities have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the events leading up to it to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office or Brick Township police.
