Logan Fletcher Park, Jacksonville, Florida driver charged with DUI manslaughter in fatal crash that killed Bayview teacher, Michael Path and young son as they crossed the road.
Florida authorities have arrested a 34 year old man following a seven-month-long investigation into a crash that killed a Jacksonville teacher and his infant son.
On May 16, 2025, Mitchell Patch, a math teacher at Bayview Elementary, and his one-year-old son, Everett were crossing Baymeadows Road at around 8:30 p.m, only to be struck by a Honda Civic vehicle.
Patch, identified as a Bayview Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and his son passed away from their injuries at the scene according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Logan Fletcher Park, 24, identified as the vehicle’s driver was taken to hospital for treatment, where a blood alcohol content test showed a level of .107. The legal BAC in Florida is 0.08.
First Coast News reports that Park turned himself in on Sunday, following an investigation by the sheriff’s office and a warrant for his arrest.
Park following his arrest, Park was charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter. He is set to make his first appearance in court on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
An obituary indicated that Patch graduated from Florida State College before spending 12 years as a math teacher at the school. He earned the Bayview Elementary Teacher of the Year award during the 2023/2024 school year.
Park is scheduled for a court hearing on December 3.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to assist Patch’s wife, Mary Allred, with funeral and related expenses.
Bayview Elementary, where Mitchell worked, sent a message to the school’s families from Principal Kelly York the day after the accident.
‘We will all certainly remember Mr. Patch for his incredible commitment to students and to the teaching profession. He was a dedicated educator and a well-loved and respected member of our Brave family,’ York wrote in the message, which was shared with WJXT. ‘Our sympathies go out to Mr. Patch’s family, friends and our entire school community during this difficult time.’
Adding, ‘I am deeply saddened, and I know the students, staff and family members who knew Mr. Patch will miss him tremendously.’
