Woodlake double homicide in North Carolina leads to ex boyfriend, Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh of Ohio fatally shooting Ukrainian refugee girlfriend, Katerina ‘Kate ‘Tovmash and her army boyfriend Matthew Wade of Mississippi on Valentine’s Day. Social media described shooter as crazed and obsessed.
A suspect wanted for the double homicide of a couple in Moore County, North Carolina was arrested by authorities in Ohio after going on the run for more than seven hours.
Officers with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, responded to reports of a double shooting around 7:45 a.m., Saturday, at a home on Daphne Lane in Vass, where they found the bodies of a 21-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man dead inside the home.
While authorities had yet to release the identities of the slain individuals, social media identified the victims as Matthew Wade, 28, of Mississippi, and his girlfriend, Katerina ‘Kate ‘Tovmash, 21.

Deputies said the suspect, 25-year-old Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh, fled the area in a white 2018 Ford Mustang before law enforcement arrived to the Woodlake community neighborhood, WRAL reported.
Investigators say units were notified to be on the lookout for Fosnaugh, who had a previous history with one of the victims, with authorities anticipating the man having fled to his hometown in Ohio.
Deputies said that Fosnaugh was found and arrested by local authorities in Coshocton, Ohio, which is about seven hours away from North Carolina, just on 3 p.m, Saturday afternoon, CBS17 reported.
‘We are grateful for the swift coordination and assistance from our law enforcement partners in bringing this individual into custody,’ Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement.

While authorities released few details as to what led up to the shooting, social media alleges Caleb was Kate’s ex-boyfriend and had allegedly driven hundreds of miles from Ohio to North Carolina, where he killed Kate and Matthew, before driving back to Ohio.
Kate was a Ukrainian refugee and Matthew was in the Army stationed in Fort Bragg. Kate’s young sisters were in the home when the slayings occurred.
Recalled Kate’s childhood best friend according to True Crime Mama: ‘At around 7 a.m., her ex-boyfriend, a man who drove seven hours from Ohio, broke into her apartment where she was caring for her younger siblings. He forced one of her siblings to wake her, then shot her in her bed, taking her life. He also shot her boyfriend, who was sleeping next to her.’
Adding, ‘Kate was there for me my whole life – even helping me out of the hospital when I was born. Our families were best friends, and we grew up together as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ukraine. We saw each other almost every other day. She was kind, joyful, and always ready to help. Whenever 1 was in trouble, she was there — supporting me, giving me advice, and always fighting for me. She would capturing moments of my life in her photos – she loved taking photos. I will always remember her as a happy, loving, and joyful person.’
Ex Ohio boyfriend described as crazed and violent
Posted Wade’s sister, one of four, ‘My brother was just 28 years old. He had plans to travel through the Army, where he was actively serving. He was supposed to go to Italy this year. He also wanted to travel to Hawaii, Japan, Ireland. There was nothing he wanted more.’
‘He has four sisters who loved their only brother, who grew up with him, who thought of him as a best friend, who would go to war for him. He loved helping others, before his time in the army he was a police officer for several years. Our lives are forever changed. And they will never be the same again.’
According to one commentator on social media who stated knowing the shooter, Caleb was ‘nuts’ and ‘weird af.’ Some even say he brought a homemade bomb to school.
Posted another, ‘I used to talk to him years ago and he was literally SO crazy.’
Following his arrest, Fosnaugh was charged with breaking and entering and two counts of murder in connection to the shooting.
