Suspect planned to target white police officers similar to 2016 Dallas ambush attack

Gregori had allegedly ‘planned an attack on police similar to the 2016 Dallas ambush,’ the FBI’s Houston field office said in a statement. In July 2016, 25-year-old Micah Xavier Johnson shot police officers in Dallas — killing five, injuring nine others, and wounding two civilians. During the man’s arrest, Johnson stated only ‘wanting to kill white cops.’

‘We have no idea why (Gregori) made the threat,’ Corpus Christi police senior officer Jennifer Collier said, adding that the FBI had not given the local department more information about the alleged threats. The FBI is continuing the investigation, she said.

Notice of Gregori’s alleged terror attack came after a tipster notified authorities, sharing up to 71 pages of text messages Gregori had shared with them stating his intent to impart violence against police. The informant revealed Gregori being friendly with several officers in the downtown area, and taking photos of them. The tipster also said Gregoria had recently purchased an AR-style gun.

Prosecutors will now wait for the FBI to complete its investigation before proceeding with a formal indictment against Gregori, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Gregori remains held at Nueces County Jail on two misdemeanors: terroristic threats impeding public service/causing public fear or serious bodily injury and criminal trespass.

He remained held in lieu of a $50K bond.

Nueces County records show Gregori being charged with a misdemeanor for criminal trespassing in December 2024.
