Jackson Hopper Tennessee man shot and killed Ellie Claire Young of Henning, after recently breaking up with him. Victim is alleged to have been breast cancer survivor who had attended Shelby Farms Park cancer walk only to be gunned down.
A Tennessee man alleged to have shot dead a 22 year old woman while attending a breast cancer walk at Shelby Farms Park near Memphis was booked with first degree murder.
Jackson Hopper, 26, is alleged to have shot dead — what police have described as ‘domestic’ related incident — Ellie Claire Young while attending the Making Strides breast cancer walk at Shelby Farms Park, just after noon, Saturday.
The shooting happened around 12:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Visitor Center at Shelby Farms Park, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) stated.

Suspect pulled up behind victim’s car and shot at her
Young, a medical student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, was pronounced dead on the scene by Memphis Fire Department paramedics.
According to SCSO, Hopper was found and arrested in Dyer County on Saturday and booked into 201 Poplar.
SCSO said the homicide is domestic-related but the investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses said that they saw Young’s Jeep parked in a parking space on the lot, WREG reported.
A white Honda CRV with Kentucky temp tags pulled behind her vehicle. The suspect, now known as Hopper, allegedly fired two shots into the back of the Jeep.
As the Young exited the Jeep, Hopper allegedly fired at least one more shot into the victim as she laid on the ground. Investigators processing the crime scene said they recovered five 9 mm shell casings and three live 9 mm rounds from the area.
According to a criminal affidavit, Young had recently broken up with Hopper.

Recent breast cancer survivor
Officials say that after fleeing the scene of the crime, Hopper led law enforcement on a high speed multi-county chase that concluded after he crashed in Dyer County.
When he was arrested, deputies found a handgun in his car.
Images posted on Facebook, showed both Hopper and Young together, with a regard of the suspect’s Facebook profile stating him having attained his MBA at the University of Tennessee at Martin Alumni.
An Instagram profile stated he was a chartered financial analyst candidate.
While police have yet to publicly verify the victim and the suspect’s dynamic, it is now thought the man and woman were married along with speculation that Ellie Young had recently beat breast cancer.
SCSO said that more charges may be forthcoming as the investigation remains ongoing.
