Ilena Rasmussen, Crestview, Florida woman arrested for drowning roommate’s $70 spider as she now becomes a Facebook sensation amid ongoing memes mocking the ‘animal’s’ death and animal cruelty charges.

A Florida woman has been arrested after admitting to drowning her roommate’s pet spider.

Ilena Renae Rasmussen, 43, of Crestview, Okaloosa County faces one count each of larceny and one charge of misdemeanor animal cruelty following the woman drowning her roommate’s pet in a can of ginger ale soda.

Despite the motive for the ‘animal’s death’ continuing to remain unknown, Rasmussen nevertheless had no qualms about having killed the spider according to police.

‘F*ck the haters!’

‘The defendant texted the victim, admitting to drowning the jumping spider in ginger ale,’ said the sheriff’s office, according to The Miami Herald.

The alleged incident happened at a home on Pansy Avenue in Crestview, Florida, on July 15. The defendant’s roommate, the owner of the pet spider, came home to discover both her spider and its enclosure missing. The roommate said that upon discovering her pet missing, she frantically called Rasmussen and asked if she knew what had happened.

Rasmussen admitted to the crime, and following the confession, she was charged, arrested on July 29 and then released on a personal recognizance bond.

But there was more to come.

Not only did Rasmussen admit to killing her roommate’s spider, she even went so far as to mock the spider’s killing in rueful social media posts, including sharing a photo of her holding a can of ginger ale, under the caption, ‘F*ck the haters!’ alongside an emoji of a spider.

In another social media post, Rasmussen also posted her mugshot — writing, ‘It’s me! LMFAO!’ — under the caption: ‘Yes I’m an evil spider killer!! Oh the drama!!’

What becomes of drowned $70 spiders and their killers?

In another social media post, Rasmussen posted, ‘This bitch had me arrested for a pet spider!!’

And in yet another post relishing the death of her roommate’s spider, Rasmussen announced, ‘My spider nonsense is about to be on the radio 99 Rock!’

The identity of the spider owner has not been publicly divulged.

According to the sheriff’s office, the ‘jumping spider’ cost around $70.

‘Jumping spiders are members of the spider family Salticidae, the largest family of spiders with over 5,000 described species. Their body size is small to medium. A dense covering of iridescent scales or hairs is also typical of jumping spiders,’ said the National Park Service.

Jumping spiders are typically no bigger than three-quarters of an inch in size and have nearly 360-degree vision thanks to their large, distinctive eight eyes. Nevermind the millions of eyes now on Ilena Renae Rasmussen, courtesy of her particular claim to tabloid horror and cruel humor!

With Rasmussen now slated to be officially arraigned on August 20th, the spider killer has since started a GoFundMe to try to raise $1,000 for her defense counsel — in which she calls herself a ‘vicious spider drowner.’

As of Tuesday morning, our collective spider killer heroine had only raised $30.
