Brandi Elliott, Hendersonville, Tennessee mother drowns her 7 year old daughter at Drakes Creek after having a rough day and wanting to be left alone after child insisted on following her mother.
A Tennessee mother is alleged to have drowned her 7 year old daughter over the weekend after the parent saying she had a ‘rough day,’ and wanted time alone.
Brandi Elliott, 33, according to court documents said she wanted to leave her 7-year-old daughter at her apartment so she could have some time to herself ‘after having a rough day.’ Her daughter, Piper, insisting that she not be left alone, instead followed her mother.
At some point the agitated parent admitted pushing her daughter underwater ‘like a large mouth bass’ until she started ‘bubbling.’ Elliot reportedly told the child to be quiet while she held her under the water according to court documents cited by WKRN-TV.
The mother removed the girl from the water and tried giving her CPR. The daughter was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Saturday, 11:45 p.m.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at Drakes Creek near Sanders Ferry Road, Hendersonville, TN, where the mother and her daughter would often walk together and feed ducks.
Elliott upon her arrest was charged with first degree murder.

Mental health challenges
Appearing before a judge on Tuesday, Elliot said she wasn’t currently under the care of a mental health professional but had previously been diagnosed with postpartum depression when her daughter was 2, News Channel5 reported.
The mother told the judge her husband was living with a disability and that she worked at McDonald’s.
Despite her appeal for leniency, a request for bond was denied.
Elliot who has no prior criminal record currently remains held at Sumner County Jail.
