Using CBD to help manage pain and inflammation: a valuable supplement with minimal to no side effects to help mitigate migraines, body aches and hangovers.

Pain and inflammation are common occurrences for us in our day to day lives. For some people, it can be a chronic issue from conditions like arthritis and fibromyalgia. For others, it can be a long-term issue as they recover from a serious injury or illness. For most people, there are smaller issues that come and go in the short-term, but that can still be uncomfortable to deal with.

Cannabidiol (CBD) has become a highly in-demand supplement over the past two decades, and especially in the past few years. This is because more and more people have become aware of the clinical research showing the ability of CBD to reduce pain and inflammation. For people dealing with any kind of pain, it is a valuable supplement to manage their condition with minimal to no side effects, unlike harsher prescription medication.

1. Migraines

Chronic migraines is an issue that affects an estimated one billion people worldwide, which is about one in eight people across the globe. They are characterized by extremely painful headaches that can also affect your sensitivity to light, appetite, vision, muscle stiffness, confusion, and more. There is no cure for migraines, but there are treatment options to mitigate the worst of the symptoms.

One of those options is CBD, which can be used as a supplement for other methods to reduce your pain and discomfort during a migraine. In one study performed on people with chronic migraines, a combination of CBD with THC at a dose of 200 mg was able to reduce acute pain by 55%.

2. Post-Workout Muscle Pain

People who exercise regularly will be familiar with the aching, stiffness, and sometimes pain in the muscles and joints that come after a workout. This happens as your body recovers from the damage that the exercising causes, and it can delay your next workout until you are fully recovered.

CBD is able to help speed up your recovery period. First, by reducing the pain and inflammation in your muscles and joints, so you don’t feel the same level of discomfort and stiffness. Second, it also is a strong source of omega fatty acids, which help promote the production of new and healthy muscle cells to replace those damaged by the workout. That’s why many people are trying delta 8 edibles such as protein bars and protein powder before or after their workouts.

3. Hangovers

Hangovers are caused by consuming too much alcohol in one sitting. It is characterized by symptoms like headaches, physical and mental fatigue, inflamed organs and muscles, stiffness, nausea, and more. The reason why you get hungover is because alcohol is actually toxic to our bodies. In small amounts, it isn’t enough to cause any pain or discomfort. In large enough amounts, it leads to oxidative stress throughout your body.

CBD helps in two ways. First, its general pain and inflammation reduction helps take the edge off the worst of your hangover symptoms. How much it helps depends on how severe your hangover is, and how much of a CBD dose you take. Second, it also has a high amount of antioxidants, which helps reduce the oxidative stress on your body.

What’s interesting about CBD as a supplement is thinking of new applications for it. We know many general properties and benefits, and have a good but incomplete awareness for how it affects and interacts with our bodies. Knowing it can reduce pain and inflammation is one thing, but you can start thinking about all of the different situations where you may have pain and inflammation where you can take CBD to mitigate it.
