Leigh Perkins Greene, Morganton, North Carolina school receptionist at Patton High School indicted after sending student inappropriate photos of herself.
A Morganton, North Carolina school receptionist has been indicted on child sex charges after allegedly sending inappropriate pictures of herself to a student.
Released court records stated Leigh Perkins Greene, 51, indicted on Monday on charges including attempted indecent liberties with a child by school personnel other than a teacher, third-degree sexual exploitation, distributing obscenity and providing alcohol to a minor, the Morganton News Herald reported.
The indictment says Greene tried to take indecent liberties with a student at Patton High School in Burke County while she worked as a secretary. It says she sent obscene photos of her private parts to the student through text messaging and Snapchat.
Burke County Public Schools spokeswoman Cheryl Shuffler says Greene was fired July 11. Of note, Patton principal Sara LeCroy said Greene had been sending inappropriate pictures for a ‘couple of months.’
The age of the victim was not revealed.
WSOCTV reported Greene having been employed in the school’s district since 2008.
‘Our primary goal is always the safety and wellbeing of students and when questionable conduct arises, we take swift and appropriate action,’ Burke County school said in a released statement on Thursday. ‘During the pre-employment process, we conduct background checks on potential employees. If criminal allegations arise during employment, we work directly with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation.’
Greene’s bond was set at $25,000 with a first appearance in court set for Sept. 16, according to court documents.
