Teen French sex attack victim faces murder charge after hitting man with shoe: Did one woman take the law into her own hands after defending herself?
An un-named 18 year old French woman is facing a murder charge after hitting a man (also un-named) with a shoe which led to the man dying after repeatedly groping her.
The man’s death tells a report via the dailymail came after dying from ‘severe’ injuries inflicted after being hit with the heel of the woman’s shoe over the head.
The incident happened after the woman told of being ‘continually pestered’ in a public square, Place de la Victoire in Bordeaux, in south west France by a visibly drunk man on December 2.
In spite of her protests, she told police, the man in his 30s continued to harass her and began groping her.
Witnesses told of the woman repeatedly ‘smashing’ her shoe into her assailant’s head only to continue when he fell unconscious. There has also been the suggestion according to France’s sudouest that the woman may have also kicked the man in the head when he was on the ground while unconscious.
The man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition before going into a coma.
The alleged sex attacker died two weeks later, with prosecutors now upgraded their investigation to homicide.
The teenage girl is now under investigation for using ‘mortal blows leading to death’.
She has been arrested and remanded in custody.
The prosecution are currently waiting for the results of an autopsy before they decide whether to charge the woman.
What do you think? Did the woman go overboard? Should she have stopped when she realized that their was no longer any danger to herself, or did she at one point take the law into her own hands (literally) when she decided to met out punishment? Or as some have wondered, was this simply what the man deserved and risked when he went about sexually accosting the teenager?
