Stacey Schnee, topless equality activist insists on always on being half naked.

Stacey Schnee, topless equality activist has caused a bit of a stir in her local town of Leicester, Massachusetts where she is often seen to the chagrin of locals and officials being topless. Something she insists she has no intent of stopping as she asserts like men she has every right of doing.

To date, Stacey Schnee, a transsexual (she was born a man) and single mother of two has made no apologies about her activities which often sees the 38 year old gallivanting about town topless.

From riding bikes, barbecues, bush walks, Stacey Schnee, an avid topless equality activist (Topless Equality) believes that if men can get about without having to wear shirts, why shouldn’t she?

That unfortunately is not necessarily the way local authorities see matters who have grappled with her insistence of getting about town topless.

Tells Stacey Schnee who was recently stopped for riding her bike topless to the horror dismay of local townspeople: ‘They were trying to tell me I was doing something wrong, and I argued back that no, it’s not, it’s legal,’

Went on to tell Scnhee who makes a point of wearing pasties over her nipples to deflect arguments that she is breaking the law:

‘You don’t even actually have to [wear pasties], but it’s way easier to get out of trouble when you are wearing them in this state because the laws are shady.

‘So, after talking with them [officers] for about five minutes they said, ‘Well, just get out of Leicester so we don’t have to deal with the calls. Just go back to Worcester’.’

Nevertheless stymied by Schnee’s insistence of getting about half naked, cops and the district attorney’s office have now gone on to take a fresh look at local laws.

Told Leicester Police Chief James Hurley: ‘We looked at both the indecent exposure and open and gross statutes and the question is if her chest area is not completely exposed is it a violation of those statues? And we are not sure,

‘Based upon a review of the law, it is unclear whether her partially covering herself up, puts her on the right side of the law,’

‘She is out there riding around, appearing to be topless and exposing herself for the shock value.’

Massachusetts General Laws imply if only a small part of the breast is covered, it should be considered nudity. Other sections of the law state a breast is uncovered if there is no covering ‘below a point immediately above the top of the areolae.’

Other sections of the law mention the intent to shock is to be considered illegal as well.

As a member of activist group, Topless Equality, Schnee advocated that which advocates for women to be able to be bare-chested, like men, in public.

‘Speaking out for Topless Equality is simply a fundamental right that I will shout from every rooftop that I am allowed to,’ Schnee said, according to her profile on the Topless Equality website.

‘Living in Massachusetts and having Toplessness considered illegal, and a violation of Indecent Exposure laws in many cities, has been very restricting.

‘I am a nudist and believe that if given a chance that America, Massachusetts, and Boston can be more open minded and see that there is no harm in allowing both sexes, and every race, creed and size the right to be free to be topless in public.’

Having been born a man, and since gone on to have gender reassignment surgery in June 2011 and breast augmentation last year, Schnee reckons she has derived a ‘unique perspective’ on public nudity.

‘This puts me in a unique position to fight for topless rights since it is a right that I lost when a single letter was changed on my driver’s license — from M to F,’

Before her transition, Schnee tellingly reveals she struggled with her identity and wanted to commit suicide.

Reacting to claims that her actions are deragotory and disrespectful, especially when she chooses to be topless around her two children, Schnee tells:

‘I’m topless and even nude in front of my kids all the time,’

‘For them it’s nothing. They don’t see it as anything strange at all. They just don’t care.

‘This is just how our family is. It’s just a little different. Daddy has breasts and Daddy is now a girl. To them it’s completely normal.’

Of course the question is if it’s normal and sane for most of us to accept men being topless, why shouldn’t society be able to accept a woman’s right to be topless, even if she once used to be a man too…then again that might all be a question of the culturally charged sexuality inherent in females breasts that lobsides the discussion…
