In a world where deranged parents are tattooing makeup on their children, and encouraging the idea of breast implants and advanced maturity at a startling young age; some parents, are forced to make a dubious decision— putting their child under the knife, for what they call, preventative measures of bullying.
Note, preventative measures for bullying used to be called ‘teaching your child to suck it up, because kids are assholes.’
HuffPo: “Good Morning America” continued its exploration of all-things-plastic-surgery on Thursday, interviewing seven-year-old Samantha Shaw, a first grader from South Dakota who recently went under the knife to pin back her cup ears and fix a fold on her right ear.
Not for an actual physical deformity, per se, but for the impending repercussions of exaggerated features unique to Samantha. Features, that if not remedied, her parents worried, could become potentially torturous as Samantha got older.
According to her mother, others have made comments in front of Samantha — with adults being worse than other kids
But one has to wonder; didn’t Samantha’s parents realize that someday, the young girl would probably grow into her oversized ears? Doesn’t it seem a bit suspect that her mother seems so concerned with the parent’s comments, and makes no mention of how Samantha felt as a result?
Subjecting your child to facial reconstruction at such a young age may increase her chances of psychological effects, especially self-confidence issues, in the future, especially if the surgery was the parents’ choice. Did the Shaws’ think of that?
It’s hard to imagine that potentially lifelong, deep-seeded issues are worth the pain of a few handfuls of Dumbo jokes made by snot-nosed kids on the playground.
