9th Annual Minds Matter Spring Soiree at M2.

Recovering from my hysteria and laughter at the fact that the “hors d’oeuvres” advertised was comprised of marshmallows on sticks and men in uniforms passing out mini-wrapped almond joy and snicker bars on trays, I struck a conversation. Identical twin Asians, beauties that prided themselves on being so close—physically, literally and emotionally—told me they were there for Sachika.

It wasn’t until I’d captured as many M&M’s as there were there people in the platform bottoms of my boots, that the models finally strutted out in stark, bright colored fitted dresses marked as designs “for the modern women.

“Sachika” translates to “more wishes, more fortunes and more happiness” and was started by twin Vietnamese sisters, To-Tam and Ton-Nu; each with a particular identity, I understood then why the twins had come to the event and even more so why all the other 700 people came by too…
