What led to Shehada Khalil Isaa murdering his son in a premeditated act of murder? A family history of abuse, innuendo, strife and hate becomes exposed.
Shehada Khalil Isaa, 69 was arrested on Tuesday after the Los Angeles ‘Christian’ father shot and killed his son in what authorities have deemed and act of ‘premeditated’ act of murder because of his son’s sexuality.
Killed was the man’s son, Amir Issa, 29 and his wife, Rabihah Issa, 68, who the man stabbed to death told prosecutors during a Friday initial court hearing.
A statement by Sgt. Greg Bruce of the LAPD told the son had been was shot once in the abdomen and once in the face, and had been pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the murder, LAPD Mission Division patrol officers found the 68-year-old deceased wife in the bathroom, while the dead son was found outside of the home.
The father was at the scene when officers arrived, having claimed he shot the son in self defense after coming across what he initially thought to be an intruder. An account police have since challenged, telling that Shehada Khalil Isaa had in fact killed both his son and wife.
The son’s murder told the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office comes after Shehada Khalil Isaa previously threatened to kill his same sex son in the past.
Sgt Bruce told that police had in the past been contacted by the family about ‘a dispute’.
At the time Amir Issa had been using the back of the family house as an apartment, but his parents sought to sell the house and evict their son, Bruce said.
‘Our detectives were involved in the eviction process to try to get him removed from the property,’ he said.
Told prosecutors in a statement: ‘The murder was committed because of the victim’s sexual orientation and because of the defendant’s perception of that status and the victim’s association with a person and a group of that status,’
The son’s murder came after Shehada Khalil Isaa used a shotgun at the family’s North Hills home.
The murder comes less than a month after the son took to Facebook where he posted: ‘Every day I wake up feeling like my sister or brother or mother or father is literally controlling me in my sleep. I have no free will.the moment I lose consciousness it feels like they tell people to rape and molest me and make it seem like I enjoy that.
‘I was earning over $100k by age 26 and this has negatively impacted my life made me live in pain and become unemployed. If there is a devil or evil spirit, I truly believe it manifests itself in my family. My name is Prince Christ.
Added the son: ‘Does it make you feel better about yourself to call me names and control me? I don’t want to be related to any of these people..nor their relatives watching and advocating this inhumane treatment. They have literally robbed my bank account, lied to courts and doctor to try and label me as mentally ill and failed in their attempts to have me falsely imprisoned and evicted.
‘My doctors certified that i have no mental illness and the courts have cleared my good name and I do not have a criminal record. I successfully passed a background check. If there are any good people on this earth, please help free me from this inhumane slavery.’
He spoke about religion and said he had changed his life insurance and work retirement investments to go to ‘the church I was born in, the Seventh day adventist church of glendale.’
Prior to Christmas, Amir Issa posted an expletive-filled video to his Facebook in which the son told he had a heated debate with two people he identifies as his parents about their sex life.
At one point the man, thought to be his father, calls him a pervert and says he should be castrated.
Of note at the time of the discovery of the deceased son and wife, a report via the The LA Times told the father telling police that he had found his wife’s body, then encountered his son who threatened him with a knife. ‘A shooting then took place,‘ it claimed.
But Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Detective John Doerbecker, has denied that account.
Told the detective: ‘The suspect made incriminating statements implicating himself in the death of [the son] and was arrested for murder.’
‘He claimed [the son] was armed with a knife, and there was no knife to be found [there]. It was a horrible family tragedy.’
A report by The Daily News on Friday quoted neighbor Maria Gomez saying she’d heard Shehada Khalil Isaa and his son frequently shouting at one another in recent months.
‘It’s very difficult to think that something like this can happen in a moment,’ she said.
Gomez went on to tell that in the 11 years she had lived next to the family rarely ever seeing the son or the mother outside. She sometimes spoke to Issa, she said, whom she described as a normal person who was ‘strong in character’ but friendly.
The son’s murder comes after, Christopher Argyros, manager of the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Anti-Violence Project, told one in three hate crimes against LGBT people occurred at the homes of the victims in a statement last year, citing a Los Angeles County report.
At present, Shehada Khalil Issa is being held without bail and his arraignment is scheduled for April 11; if convicted he may face life in jail.
