Katerina Bardos a 24 year old Greeley, Colorado middle school has been arrested after maintaining a long term sexual relationship with a twelve year old student and supplying them with marijuana.
Since her arrest the former Brentwood Middle School teacher faces charges of sex assault on a child, sex assault on a child by some one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Baros’ arrest would come after a three week investigation by Greeley Police after it was substantiated that the Katerina Bardos had been immersed in a long term relationship with the now 13 year old boy who she fist met when he was enrolled in her sixth grade class.
According to court documents, Bardos would go to the student’s home to watch movies, she even let him stay at her apartment.
His parents told police they thought it was unusual but thought she was just trying to keep him out of trouble.
Pursuant to the Bardos’ arrest the Greeley-Evans School District released a statement on Friday which told the following:
‘Katerina Bardos was a teacher at Brentwood Middle School from August 2013 through May 2014. Her contract was not renewed at the end of May 2014,’
Adding: ‘The only alleged male victim in this case is a student at Brentwood Middle School. Greeley-Evans School District 6 personnel are cooperating with the Greeley Police Department investigation of these allegations.’
Bardos moved to Frontier Charter School to teach fourth grade in fall 2014 and allegedly continued to have a sexual relationship with the boy until just before her arrest, police said.
Frontier executive committee president Stan Sugen sent a message to families and staff about the arrest on Friday.
The message said: ‘It has come to our attention that the Greeley Police Department arrested an employee of Frontier Academy.
‘The first thing we want you to know is that the safety of our students is our number one priority, and we have been informed that the arrest was unrelated to any student at Frontier Academy.
‘The employee has been terminated. As termination is a personnel matter, we will not make any further comment.‘
On Friday the teacher was detained at the Weld County Jail pending $100 ooo bond.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 18.
