In an about face persistent with assertions that Danish mag Se og Hør (“See and Hear“) would be this week coming out with new bottomless and topless photos of Kate Middleton our journal has just momentarily ago received direct correspondence from the outlet informing us in fact that it has no plans to publish said images.
The correspondence as issued by Aller, the Danish publication holding company that owns the journal and on behalf of Kim Henningsen, editor in Chief at ‘SE og HØR’ reads as follows, see below screen grab:
At present this author is somewhat suspect as to why Mr Henningsen has issued such a statement despite what many media outlets had attributed was the express intent of Mr Henningsen:
“It’s a set of unique photos from an A-class celebrity. We are a leading gossip magazine in Denmark, and it is my job to publish them. If the British royal family want to sue us, then it will happen then and we’ll deal with it… Our readers love to follow the lives of royalty and celebrities, and demand revealing news, up close.”
Which begs the question why the change of heart? Or can we assume that the outlet still plans to publish the images at a later date?
Of course this can only be good news for the royal house who has been contemplating what legal action to pursue against the publication. Then again it could also be a matter of public sentiment turning against the media as the public may now want to wonder if indeed the media has gone too far in publishing new images of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton which this time round would be far more revealing and salacious than previously shared, thereby posing the question is this real legitimate media reporting or a form of which hunt and bullying against the royal family? Something that should never exist in the media despite the fine line we as media agents are asked to manage as we present stories of human interest.
Then again what human interest is being served by piling on against Kate Middleton who meant no harm, was never looking for a fight in the first place and was frankly just minding her own business when she chose to disrobe in front of her husband, an act that most women the world over do everyday.
Who knows perhaps it’s time we in the media find some degree of sensitivity. Something that Mr Kenningsen might at this very moment might be contemplating quite seriously….
At present Mr Henningsen has affirmed only pictures the magazine featured of Kate Middleton in a 16-page spread on Sept. 20 exist.
