Sexualizing children will always get you a lot of eyeballs. Welcome to contentious tactics courtesy of star fxcked parents and Versace the biggest star fxckers of them all….
Getting a modeling contract is always a tricky thing to negotiate. Not so though when you happen to be the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford. And even though she’s only ten years old, Kaia Gerber, the daughter of restaurateur and hotelier Randy Gerber and Cindy Crawford the timing was nevertheless ripe. As usual the dailymail explains the latest dash into junk culture…
dailymail.co.uk: Posing for the very first Young Versace ad, Kaia appears to have inherited her mother’s confidence in front of the camera.
Kids, sorry for the rude interruption but isn’t that the whole point of hiring this ten year old child? Because she happens to be the daughter of a famed supermodel? Do you really she would be there despite her fine features if it wasn’t for her family connections? Then again aren’t most things in society and privilege all about who you know and not know what you know, or as in this case how you look? Even at ten years old with your skirt half way up your pelvis?
Continues unabashedly the dailymail:
Wearing highlights from the designer line, which caters to children up to the age of 12, she stares boldly at the lens with her hands in her pockets.
Given that her mother was a muse to the late Gianni Versace in the Nineties, it seems Kaia was a natural choice for the label – and Ms Crawford could not be more proud that her daughter is following in her footsteps.
What a wonderful cheering squad the dailymail makes. At least then we know it’s all in good taste since they have taken the time to remind us that this is just a bunch of uber people getting down and casually sharing with us their good breeding and impeccable looks and good taste.
She said in a press release: ‘I’m so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign.
‘I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace.’
She added that she was present throughout the shoot, describing it as a ‘fantastic experience’.
Well since it was all said in a press release you know like you I’m cheering and convinced that team Versace got it right and hasn’t for a moment exploited the visage of a child for its name brand aspirations and image.
Not to undercut the trend in prebuscent girls in the high stakes of too young is never young enough is the dailybeast. Let’s see what they think:
The past year has seen a rise in the amount of pre-teen models in the public eye. There was Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau, the 10-year-old French sensation who began on the Jean Paul Gaultier runway at the age of 4. Then there was Lottie Moss, Kate Moss’s 13-year-old half-sister, whose test shoot with a photographer was recently revealed. Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, 14, began shilling for her Material Girl line at Macy’s, and Elle Fanning, 13, became a red-carpet staple last year.
A red carpet staple? Hmm, then I’m sold. How about you, as long as you know it’s on the red carpet it must be tasteful…
The label’s creative director, Donatella Versace, said Kaia has inherited all of her mother’s modelling magic.
She said: ‘Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her.
Who also loves her is the marketing director and all those young impressionable children who in no time will be swapping barbie dolls for lusty sweat tops and cute dresses up their pelvis. But if a celebrities daughter at ten years old can do it, so can you. Right?
