The food and the thrills never ran out at the 3rd Annual NJ Food and Wine Festival.

To be sure one of my most favorite morsels included the to die for ensemble courtesy of Scott Snyder’s Boulevard Five 72 (you must rush to go there) in Kenilworth – NJ: a compact seared red mullet, sauteed South Carolina shrimp, black bean puree with mango papaya that left your tongue melting.

Then there was the braised short rib with horse radish sauce and sauteed leaks courtesy of Jersey City’s Maritime Parc– this sucker melted and oozed every sensory overload imaginable- it did I believe leave tears of rapture…

Then there was the delightful and refreshing appetizer of flat pressed octopus carpaccio that came with jalapeno sauce (this ingredient is here to stay!) courtesy of charismatic Stephen Lewandowski – Tribeca Grill‘s executive chef. Curious as to why he had gone with this choice he replied, he had a sense many of the participating vendors would be offering heavier warm plates and he was looking to offer a compelling light contrast- the result- this zinger was tre supple and too yummy.
