Violence in Academia.
Is there ever a good time to punch someone in the face? How about if they are being insolent, a douche bag, or just simply getting egging you on? Or how about the simple fact that you can’t stand them because they have taken the polar opposite position of what you have decided on some issue? In any event, Lionel McIntyre, 59, a prominent Architecture professor at Columbia was arrested for punching campus employee Camille Davis in the face at local bar hangout ‘Toast,’ over what turned out to be an argument concerning race relations.
McIntyre, being black and probably exceedingly pissed off with life, or maybe just Camille’s point of view decided that rather than being humiliated, behaving like an idiot might be the better way to go. As it turned out the professor now regrets his behavior while Davis who has been seen walking around in dark sunglasses (to cover her nasty black eye), for her part has declined to publicly comment on the matter until, we assume, the next bar brawl.
In his defense, McIntyre (who’s probably got a lot on his mind these days and who was released without bail at his arraignment last night) as quoted in the NY Post – had this to say:
“It was a very unfortunate event. I didn’t mean for it to explode the way it did.”
In any event we’re sure McIntyre was able to prove this one very interesting point- ‘With violence, it doesn’t matter whether you are black or white…most of the time.’NY Post
