The body of an American Airlines flight attendant was found washed ashore in southern Florida last week after being struck by a boat while snorkeling.
Kellie Melinda Williams, 31, was found dead around 8pm last Wednesday by fishermen in Hollywood Beach, just north of Miami.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission identified Williams on Friday and said a preliminary investigation indicated her injuries were consistent with being struck by a vessel, CBS News reported.
Mystery boat operator sought
Her cause of death was described as the result of blunt force injuries.
Williams had been likely been snorkeling or diving earlier in the day prior to her body being found.
‘Based on the investigation, it appears the deceased was snorkeling/diving in the area of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park on June 3,’ officials said.
Officials did not say if they have any information about the boat that likely struck and killed Williams, who may have been driving it or if there are any suspects.
The victim’s family described her as an accomplished snorkeler and diver and a ‘great person,’ NBC Miami reported.
AA flight attendant had been newly married
Williams hailing from California had recently moved to Florida. She was married less than a year ago in October of 2025, according to her social media.
American Airlines shared a statement saying: ‘We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague.
‘Our thoughts and support are with her family, loved ones and colleagues at this time.’
The Miami-based Association of Professional Flight Attendants shared a statement reading: ‘It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and fellow MIA Flight Attendant, Kellie Williams.
‘Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Kellie’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.’
