Richie Rich Spring 2011: This time, it is about the clothes
In my article about Richie Rich’s last collection, I said, “I certainly hope no one went to the Richie Rich Runway Show expecting to pay attention to the clothes.” I was referring, of course, to the entrancing spectacle that surrounds Rich, but this collection broke through all that hoopla and stood on its own two well-heeled feet. The clothes had a very vintage feel, enhanced by the polished bouffants and green cat-eye makeup full skirts, pinstripes and seersucker contrasting with neon details and other modern touches. All in all, it felt like what a drag queen would wear to a luncheon in Greenwich (CT, not village). Of course, a socialite would be equally at home in any of the outfits of this collection: it was distinctly couture.
