Officers had been called for a burglary at 900 block of Cunningham Court with officials saying there were signs of forced entry according to WHIO-TV.
Police responded to reports of a burglary in progress with a resident inside who had been shot, according to Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins. Officers found Ashley Flynn dead at the scene; her husband and two children were inside the home but were not physically injured.
Adkins called Flynn’s shooting death a homicide and said the tragedy was likely the result of suspected burglary gone wrong.
She was ‘murdered in her home,’ Flynn’s pastor, Jordan Hansen of Dayton’s Christian Life Center, said in tribute to the ‘beloved member of our church, devoted servant of Jesus, and wife, mom, daughter.’

Flynn’s autopsy was conducted Tuesday morning and the results are pending, police said. Investigators are continuing to follow up on information and evidence gathered during the autopsy process.
A follow up on Wednesday included Chief Greg Adkins confirming a preliminary autopsy confirmed that Flynn died of a gunshot wound.
‘I’m not gonna release right now where the gunshot wounds were or exactly how many,’ said Chief Adkins according to Dayton247Now.
He said that in 26 years in the department, he has only seen about six homicides in Tipp City, with local police asking for assistance. Multiple agencies, including the FBI and Ohio BCI, are helping with the investigation the chief said.
Flynn previously taught for Tipp City Schools and was a substitute teacher and coached seventh-grade girls volleyball at Tippecanoe Middle School, according to the school district.
‘She was known for her beautiful smile, warmth, kindness, and the positive impact she had on so many — both in and out of the classroom and on the court,’ Tipp City Schools said Monday.
A GoFundme in support of Ashley’s family as of Tuesday had raised $77,461.
