Presley Gerber dies at rehab clinic: cause of death unknown as son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and sister of supermodel, Kaia Gerber had ongoing mental health and drug addiction issues and had over the years commented on his plight and fight to reclaim himself.
The travails of celebrity and Hollywood… Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel, Cindy Crawford and celebrity entrepreneur, Rande Gerber has died at the age of 27 following an ongoing bout with mental health and drug abuse issues.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner told TMZ on Sunday, September 20, that Presley died at a rehab facility.
‘The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,’ the family said in a statement to the outlet.
Celebrity son opened up about mental health struggles
Presley opened up about his mental health struggles in a since-deleted Instagram post claiming, ‘honesty is the best policy.’
‘Here’s some clarity for ya — the truth will set you free (hopefully) haha,’ he wrote in December 2025. ‘The benzos have been fluctuating up and down depending on what’s been going on in my life.’
He went on to share that he often takes Xanax ‘when the panic attacks are really, really bad’ and follows with ‘a little bit’ of valium in the morning.
‘I don’t know if it’s a little bit or a lot, who f–king knows at this point anymore,’ he continued. ‘The doctors say a lot of different things, so it’s kind of scary, but hopefully between my research and their research … and God, we can figure this out. The things that scare me are the things you need to take … if you don’t take them, something not good happens. And there’s a spectrum there on how intense the withdrawal from certain medications is.’
In addition to his dependency on prescription drugs, Presley revealed that he distanced himself from Hollywood in order to protect his mental health.
‘Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently. So that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now,’ he shared. ‘I’ve grown up in Hollywood, and there’s a lot of people around me that I love to death, but right now I try not to be around them.’
Like his younger sister and high profile ‘celebrity’ parents, Presley Gerber, was immediately hoisted to a high profile presence, including modeling for a coterie high fashion labels and making his runway debut at only age 16, walking for Moschino.
He went on to walk for brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, as well as US labels Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. Gerber modeled in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega, and for magazines including GQ Style and The New York Times Style Magazine.
He also worked as an investor and entrepreneur, according to a biography on DNA Model Management, which signed Gerber in 2019.
In August, Presley’s sister, Kaia Gerber, speaking to Vogue commented about her brother’s ‘decade-long struggle with drug addiction.’
‘When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,’ the supermodel sibling explained. ‘I think that’s also why I started to self- identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.’
In January 2019, Presley was arrested for DUI in Beverly Hills after failing a field sobriety test. The then-19-year-old was sentenced to 3 years of probation and ordered to complete a DUI program.
During his December 2025 statement, Presley revealed that he was on ‘four classes of medication’—blood pressure, opioid, benzos and antidepressant.
‘I am hoping this reaches people in many ways,’ he added at the time. ‘A: so you feel like you’re not alone, because that is how I feel most of the time. I have a feeling if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it. And the second thing is, hopefully I find some people out here and are willing to help or know someone that can help.’
Commenting on the statements at the time, mom, Cindy Crawford had written ‘Presley — we love you and you are not alone.’ More recently, the 60-year-old supermodel posted to Facebook to mark her son’s 27th birthday in July, writing: ‘I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy!’
Presley previously revealed his wish to help others during a February 2023 interview on the Studio 22 podcast, saying, ‘I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do.’
‘That really what I want to do—help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment,’ he explained at the time. “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.’
Presley’s cause of death is not yet known. It is believed Presley was named after celebrity great and musician, Elvis Presley who also lived a tragic high profile life in the public eye only to later succumb to drug and mental health issues.
