Presley Gerber died of suspected drug overdose at live in Los Angeles facility as cause of death yet to be released pending autopsy.
Latest reports tell of famed celebrity couple’s son, Presley Gerber dying from a drug overdose at a Los Angeles area rehab facility he was living at.
Sources told TMZ on Monday that supermodel, Cindy Crawford and her entrepreneur husband, Rande Gerber, were told their son’s death was a result of an overdose.
At the time of his death, the male model was living with several people in a separate house on the grounds of the rehab center in the Los Angeles area.
Drug relapse?
Of note, the medical examiner had yet to determine the cause of death or conduct an autopsy, which includes toxicology testing to find out what drugs were in Presley’s system at the time of his death.
Commentators on social media were rife with speculation as to how Presley was able to obtain drugs at the facility and whether they had been ’smuggled’ to him. Along with speculation if he had suffered a relapse and what may have triggered it.
The developments follow Presley passing away at the undisclosed rehab facility on Sunday, September 20, at the age of 27.
At the time of his death, Presley Gerber had been dealing with drug addiction and mental health struggles.
Following news of his tragic death, the Gerber-Crawford family asked for ‘privacy during this very difficult and painful time.’
Famed celebrity son travails
Presley followed in his mom and supermodel sister Kaia Gerber’s footsteps when he signed with IMG Models at just 15. He made his runway debut a year later at the Moschino resort show in Los Angeles.
However, it was at that time that he also began struggling with substance abuse and mental health.
At the age of 19, he was arrested for DUI after being pulled over for speeding in Beverly Hills, California, in December 2018.
At the time of his arrest, Presley reportedly smelled of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test at the scene.
He pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to three years of probation, community service and a DUI program.
In 2020, Presley shocked fans and his family alike when he debuted a “misunderstood” tattoo on his right cheek.
Amid criticism, he said in an Instagram Live, ‘If I thought this was going to ruin my face or I didn’t want this, I wouldn’t have done it. I think that’s a pretty obvious thing.’
‘It says misunderstood, because that’s how I felt my entire life,’ he added.
However, he seemed to regret his decision when he underwent laser treatment to remove the ink.
Stated Presley during a 2023 interview in part, “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.’
