Third ransom note in Nancy Guthrie abduction case sent according to TMZ who reveal purported kidnapper’s identity would be revealed if one unit of bitcoin ($67K) was deposited to account.
A new scam or is this legitimate? TMZ founder Harvey Levin said Wednesday that he received a letter ( amazing how TMZ has managed to keep itself relevant, but this author digresses…) claiming to know the identity of Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapper.
The letter as part of its stipulation of revealing the purported identity of the kidnapper included a demand for one bitcoin on Wednesday (February 11). Bitcoin is currently trading at $66,864.
The note, which TMZ received just before 5am PT today, allegedly said, ‘If they want the name of the individual involved then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet. Time is more than relevant.’
“That doesn’t align to me with somebody as methodical as what I believe the person who wrote that note.”

Third ransom note received linked to bitcoin address
Explained Levin speaking to Fox News, ‘So, an hour and a half ago, we got kind of a bizarre letter, an email from somebody who says they know who the kidnapper is and that they have tried reaching Savannah’s sister, Annie, and Savannah’s brother, to no avail. And they said they want one bitcoin sent to a bitcoin address that we have confirmed is active.
‘It’s a real bitcoin address. And as they put it, time is more than relevant. So, we have no idea whether this is real or not, but they are making a demand,’ he added.
Nancy Guthrie person of interest in kidnapping case released
The individuals suspected of kidnapping Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY Show anchor Savannah Guthrie, had reportedly stopped contact with her family after a $6 million ransom deadline passed on Monday (February 9). The ransom deadline expired at 5:00 p.m. local time on Monday after the TV anchor’s demand for proof that her mother was still alive was not met with a response.
It continued to remain unknown whether the ailing 84-year-old matriarch was still alive or not come Wednesday morning
The letter for release of the identity of Nancy’s alleged abductor comes one day after a bitcoin address in a ransom note linked to Guthrie’s disappearance had seen ‘activity’ with an amount of $300.
It remained unclear if the bitcoin account was linked to the purported kidnapper or not. The activity came on the same day that the FBI released new images and video of alleged Nancy Guthrie kidnapper at her Tucson, Arizona home on the evening she went missing (was abducted).
Speculation existed if the bitcoin activity and the alleged new letter are coincidental with the ongoing developments in the Nancy Guthrie case or the ongoing efforts of outside actors seeking to inject themselves in a national tabloid story that has captivated the US for over 11 days after Today show host, Savannah Guthrie’s mom was kidnapped on February 1.
