Nancy Guthrie ransom deadline comes and goes raising question whether Savannah Guthrie’s mom was ever kidnapped, no longer alive and if the missing woman’s disappearance may be now beyond a missing person case and that of a murder investigation as the Today Show releases video pleading for her ‘mother’s safe return.’
A former FBI official has expressed doubt about whether Today show host, Savannah Guthrie mom, Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is truly a kidnapping, while questioning if the 84-year-old matriarch is alive as the second and final purported ransom deadline for Monday 5 p.m, has come and gone.
The sentiment comes as the FBI put out the following statement after Monday’s 5 p.m deadline coming and passing:
‘For more than a week, FBI agents, analysts and professional staff have worked around the clock to reunite Nancy Guthrie with her family. The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or a person of interest in this case at this time.’

Was Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance ever a real kidnapping?
Addressing Newsnation, Monday night, the former FBI Assistant Director Chris stated, ‘I’m very skeptical of this really being a kidnapping.’
Adding, ‘Does somebody really have her, and is she really alive?’ the former big chief investigator said.
The former FBI agent expressed his suspicions as a purported second (and final ransom deadline) came and went for $6 million in bitcoin only for alleged abductors refusing to abide by the family’s prior stipulations of ‘we will pay’ on the condition that Nancy was still alive. No such proof had been offered in the days leading up to the looming final deadline. As the hours counted down on Monday, no further communication was made.
‘If this was a kidnapping, it would be a very simple matter to authenticate and provide proof of life,’ Swecker said, noting that no evidence had been ‘credibly authenticated at this point.’
‘You have to allow for the possibility that this was something more or something other than a kidnapping.’ Swecker told the outlet.
‘I really think there’s a third party here that’s just playing with them, opportunists who think they can exploit this situation.’
Savannah Guthrie releases somber plea hours before final Monday deadline
The unfolding drama stoked the somber realization that purported kidnappers may have been nefarious characters who knew enough of the family’s inside particulars trying to take advantage of the family’s dilemma, turning the family’s suffering into a media frenzy spectacle.
As the alleged abductor(s) failed to offer proof, as the hours and minutes ticked closer to 5 p.m, Monday, Savannah Guthrie to issue a final somber plea (seemingly either for the release of the mother if she were alive or her body).
‘We believe our mom is still out there and we need your help,’ the celebrity anchor stated somberly.
Adding, ‘law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken and we don’t know where and we need your help!’
The statement came despite the diminished odds that the ailing 84-year-old matriarch who has a bevy of ailments and daily need of medication for a heart condition actually still being alive.
What really happened to missing 84-year-old celebrity mom?
And then there were these comments on the web that caught this author’s attention. See what you think?
‘I’d be shocked if this case was a kidnapping, and even more surprised if Ms. Guthrie is still alive. Based on my experience I suspect that she died almost immediately and the “kidnapping” is a rouse to cover her death and subsequent disappearance. I would be looking at her inner circle of friends and family.’
‘The elder Mrs. Guthrie is no longer alive. The last two messages by Savannah Guthrie spoke of her mother in the past tense. Also she was just not asking for her mother the person to be return but for her mother’s body to be returned so they can celebrate her life with a proper burial.’
‘If not a kidnapping, what else could it be? The woman did not just disappear with aliens. If someone just murdered her, the question would be why.’
‘If it truly is a kidnapping, the kidnappers have been the most patient we’ve ever seen.’
