Looming 5 p.m deadline

The efforts come ahead of a looming Monday 5.p.m deadline in which the purported kidnaper(s) has stated in a ransom note that $6 million in bitcoin is to be paid or the mother will perish. To date, authorities have yet to comment on the legitimacy of the latest ransom note and its purported payment deadline and ultimatum.

The ransom note writers claimed that Nancy Guthrie’s life was in peril if they don’t receive the crypto payment by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. local time on Monday (February 9). Savannah Guthrie said she and her family ‘will pay’ her mother’s abductors in a video shared on Saturday (February 7).

‘We received your message and we understand,’ Savannah Guthrie said, while holding hands with her brother, Camron, and sister, Annie in the video shared to her Instagram account. ‘We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace.’

‘This is very valuable to us, and we will pay,’ she concluded.

The Today show co-anchor did not share details about the communication her family received nor the demands that she agreed to pay to the abductors.

The latest developments come just on eight days after the 84-year-old matriarch was last seen on January 31 before she was reported missing on the morning of February 1 after failing to turn up to Sunday church services. Unable to locate Nancy, family members reached out to police.

Federal and local agencies have been working to find the mother of the missing parent since then. Despite the ailing mother, who has a number of cardio health issues and who is in constant need of vital daily medication authorities nevertheless believe she is still alive.

Stated Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos on Friday night: ‘I believe is that Nancy was removed from her home against her will, and that we need to find her. That’s what I believe. She’s still alive.’

The chief conceded officials not knowing the identity of the purported abductor(s) or having any persons of interest.

The case continues to grip the nation as investigators now race ahead of a looming Monday 5 p.m, ultimate deadline following the purported abduction of the TV celebrity’s mother.
