Gig Harbor stabbing in Pierce County, Washington State leaves five dead including stabber following an order of protection violation by 32-year-old stabber killed by cops upon arriving at cul-de-sac where victims were found on street.

Five people are dead, including a 32-year-old male suspect, after a protection order violation in Washington State escalated to a stabbing at a Gig Harbor street and gunfire exchange with deputies, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

The 32-year-old suspect, who was previously involved with one of the victims was seen stabbing people in the street outside an $800,000 home in Gig Harbor, located on Puget Sound, on Tuesday morning. 

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on 87th Avenue Court NW just before 9am local time for reports of a protection order violation, KING 5 reported.

While en route, witnesses called 911 to report that a man was stabbing people outside the home on the quiet cul-de-sac. 

Three adults were killed at the scene. Paramedics took a fourth victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where they later died from their injuries.

Witnesses said at least one of the victims was stabbed in the middle of the street in front of a group of onlookers.  

A sheriff’s deputy reportedly shot and killed the attacker at the scene around 9:33am.

Mother had filed order of protection against son at the address citing mental health disorder

Court documents linked to the address of the home involved show at least one petition for a protection order was filed by a mother against her adult son in April 2025 and granted the following month in May. The protection order mentions the son having a mental health disorder and states he has pushed and threatened his mother in the past according to KOMO News.

In her petition for the protection order, the mother stated her son has been abusing and threatening her, as well as damaging her personal belongings, harming her cat, recording her in her home, and ‘doing witchcraft/occult behavior and doing rituals in [her] home.’

The protection order stated the son was not to have any weapons or come within 1,000 feet of his mother, her home, her vehicle, or her workplace. The son was also ordered by the court to follow his treatment plan and take his medications.

No contact order was not yet valid at time of stabbing spree

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 8:45am Tuesday claiming that the suspect was violating a no contact order. 

Police have since confirmed the no contact order was not yet valid because it had not been served to the suspect. It remained unclear why the order of protection which was is thought to have been ten months old hadn’t been served. 

Officer were given a copy of the order to serve the suspect, but by the time they arrived at the scene, he had already carried out his stabbing spree

The investigation has since been taken over by the Pierce County Force Investigation Team, which described the scene as ‘very active.’ 

Gig Harbor is a small maritime city located near Puget Sound, about 15 miles northwest of Tacoma.

The picturesque city is home to just 12,000 people, according to 2020 census data.
